Light is important all throughout the Bible. It is found from Genesis when God created it and set it opposite to the darkness, all the way to Revelation where the author states, “And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light,…” Light is used to discuss the deeper realities of the soul. Although both are a part of the meaning, this verse in Revelation speaks to the light and darkness of our inner being more than it does to the physical day and night. The truth we see all around us is that so much of humanity live lives in darkness even though there is physical daylight each and every day. The Bible says human beings must possess the capacity to receive the light and we do not have this ability on our own because of our propensity to sin. God is not only the creator and author of the light but he gives out the capacity to receive it as well. I pray we would all know and understand this light, and more importantly, I pray we would all understand our role to join God in being light among the darkness of the world around us.   - Pastor Andrew
