The only thing separating Jeremiah as the True prophet of God from all the many false prophets of his time is the detail given in Jeremiah 1:9, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.” It is no different today with those called to preach and teach the Word of God. The Word of God possesses all authority. Like Jeremiah, anything that is accomplished by the church is accomplished because God has gifted us with His Word and therefore His authority. Also like Jeremiah, we do not possess authority solely due to a particular office or title we may hold. God’s Word comes first then authority accompanies it, thus it is impossible for one to wield authority within the church apart from an intimate knowledge and deep concern for the Word of God. The statement in Jeremiah 1:10 detailing the incredible authority given to Jeremiah, even over kingdoms and nations, can only be his because of the realities of verse 9. God first gave him His Word! How committed are you to the Word of God? Let all we do be done solely on the authority of the Word of God alone and if need be let us first grow in our knowledge of it and passion for it!   - Pastor Andrew

Formed Us & Knew Us (before our birth)

I cannot think of a better beginning to any act of service for the Lord than God admitting He had formed us and knew us before our births to be set a part for this distinct purpose. The specific task God called him to is the part unique to Jeremiah, this means God knows all of us and formed all of us in the womb even though He does not call us to the same things as Jeremiah. If this is hard for you to believe, then I say join the club. There are some very distinguished members of this club, including Jeremiah himself. Actually our reluctance and belief that we are not sufficiently qualified to do what God is asking of us is further evidence of God’s calling. Any deficiency we may have will be highlighted and used by God to show He is the one really working and therefore He only deserves the honor and glory. God is serious and very skilled at taking weak broken vessels and creating beautiful things from them all for the glory of His name. I plead with you this morning to investigate and realize you have been called by God. The first step to following this in obedience is the pursuit of holiness.  -Pastor Andrew

Perseverance & Endurance

We discussed light last week. Specifically how God is the source of both spiritual and physical light in the world and how He commands those who believe in Him to reflect his light into the darkness through the way we live. Relating to this topic I believe very few people in all of history have been called to this in a more difficult situation than the prophet Jeremiah. Part of reflecting light into a dark world is speaking the Truth even when it is painful. Jeremiah was called and commissioned by God to do this exact thing. As we begin studying the words of this great prophet I want to highlight one thing. Jeremiah has been called by many “the weeping prophet” for good reason but even through the weeping Jeremiah displayed great endurance and perseverance. I believe we too will be asked to some degree to show the perseverance and endurance Jeremiah displays among the community and society in which we live. Therefore it brings me great excitement to begin this long journey of studying this prophesy together I pray the Lord will bless you in and through it for the purpose of being a blessing to others around you.   - Pastor Andrew
